The aim of the course is to get fundamental knowledge about rock and soil material formation, physical and mechanical properties and methods of laboratory testing as well as knowledge about in situ methods of investigation, structural features, classification and determination of rock and soil mass properties, to get theoretical knowledge and understanding of the basic mechanisms of rock and soil mass in different conditions caused by the engineering construction, to develop the ability to solve corresponding engineering problems.
